The fundamental task at Westminster
Presbyterian Church is to help people grow in their faith. This
involves doing as well as verbalizing. In working toward this
goal of spiritual awareness and fulfillment, Westminster's adult
programs enable people of all ages to express thoughts and ideas,
and to share in the Lord's work. Westminster is indeed a vibrant
community of believers and doers.
PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN OF
WESTMINSTER Presbyterian Women is
a group of Westminster women whose purpose is to commit themselves
to nurture their faith through prayer and Bible study, to support
the mission work of the Church worldwide, to work for justice
and peace, and to build an inclusive, caring community of women
who strengthen the Presbyterian Church (USA), and witnesses to
the promise of God's kingdom. There are nine different circles
for women to take part in. The circles are small groups of women
who meet regularly for fellowship, study, mutual support, and
action. Feel free to visit and/or join any of the circles , they
involve women of all ages. For more information, please contact
Marilyn Lawrence or Nancy Cook, moderators of the PWW.
WESTMINSTER DEACON MINISTRY
Caring Ministry
- Persons are called
from the congregation to the office of Caring Deacon. Their purpose
is to provide care and support for Westminster members who are
hospitalized and in the midst of a life-changing situation. In
general terms, this is a "short-term" one-on-one ministry.
Sustaining Ministry - Persons are called from the congregation
to the office of Sustaining Deacon. Their purpose is to provide
supportive care for people on a long-term basis. Generally, these
are Westminster members who are homebound, chronically ill, alone,
or otherwise isolated from the community.
Eucharistic Ministry - Deacons and Elders serve communion
to homebound and hospitalized members.
WESTMINSTER CHURCHMEN'S

Churchmen's Luncheon takes place on Wednesdays at noon throughout
the year in the dining room of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
This is an ecumenical program for men of every faith. It is a
time of Christian fellowship and an opportunity for mid-week
meditation. The meeting format consists of a buffet luncheon,
followed by a hymn sing, meditation from guest preachers from
the area, and prayer.
MEN'S TUESDAY MORNING PRAYER

The peanuts are sold locally and make a great gift for the holidays!
The group has purchased major furnishings for the church with
their proceeds. Peanuts utilizes anywhere from 10-25 volunteers
every Tuesday. Men and women are welcome, and not just church

LUCILLE M. NEWLAND BOOK
GROUP The Lucille
M. Newland Book Group of Westminster Presbyterian Church is a
discussion group which welcomes all who wish to attend. The Book
Group reads and savors books of fiction, poetry and plays, and
occasionally views a film or video. We peruse a wide variety
of authors, styles, and viewpoints, always seeking to nurture
our own Christian growth through fictional circumstances and
characters. The Book Group meets monthly, eight times a year,
on Sunday evenings, at 7:30pm in the church parlor. Each discussion
is led by a group member or guest who has done a little research
into the author's background and how has chosen some interesting
aspects of the book to initiate discussion. Everyone who wishes,
adds his or her insights and opinions.
